Kwansei Gakuin University (関西学院大学) is the venue of the conference.
Kwansei Gakuin University, rooted in a school built in 1889 by the US Southern Methodist mission, is one of the leading private universities in Japan. It has been selected as one of the “Top Global Universities,” recognized for their international commitments.
The university is located at the city of Nishinomiya in the prefecture of Hyogo, in the western part of Japan, 500km east of Tokyo. It is in the area called Kansai area, in which one can experience many different faces of Japan. The ancient capital of Kyoto is only one and a half hour away; an international port city of Kobe with its early Chinese and European influence is 40 minutes away; so is the vibrant commercial city of Osaka.
Kwansei Gakuin University is serviced by Hankyu trains and Hankyu buses. The closest train station is Kotoen on the Hankyu Imazu Line, which runs every 7 to 10 minutes. From the station one can either walk for 12 minutes to the campus (slightly uphill) or use a bus.
“Kwansei” is a variant of the word Kansai, which is the namre of the area covering Osaka, Kyoto, Kobe, and Nara.
